Getting Hot Out! From Masks to Face Shields

In our household for these long, COVID-19 days of shelter-in-place, we actually wear masks inside the house, whenever we can remember to do so. I'm sure this seems a bit extreme, but we thought this might be a good idea since we have some high-risk individuals in our family circle and research indicates that corona virus particles can spread from talking loudly, even from asymptomatic carriers (as well as the larger droplet methods you've already heard about). Wearing something on your head or face also makes it harder to touch your face and breathe on the smaller heads running around the place. If one of us does become sick, we think that doing this now would make us more practiced with wear this kind of gear, which is a habit that actually takes time to "set."  And we would also know who has a hard time with compliance and not!

Enter summer....

I was looking for some options that were easier to manage and maintain -- not only for the adults, but possibly for kids (camp??- hope)  Below are some picts. I found these from Etsy seller, Proted, and they are my favorite, so far.  You can re-use these, easily clean them, and they are made of thicker, but flexible plastic; they will not rip or crinkle like other ones I've tried. I think these are my favorite so far.

If you opt for the proted shield, I recommend you seal off the top of the shield with some kind of cap. I've found that a shower cap is most effective, portable, and quickest to add on. If you don't wear any type of cap, you are left with a large gap at the top, which is OK, but not ideal. You can also just tuck in the shower cap, so it looks a bit more tidy.

If you just want a little extra protection, quickly - you can just wear it like, below.

As seen directly down here, you can quickly raise the shield to eat or drink. This is a lot easier than taking off the entire mask.

Lastly, this is very portable:
